English consists of 26 letters but is built upon 44 distinct sounds. I often emphasize that phonics is the basic foundation for English. Proper phonics instruction is essential for reading fluency and vocabulary development. Without it, English can feel overwhelming, leading many learners to lose motivation. By mastering phonics, students gain the confidence needed to read and understand English naturally—just as it is taught in British schools. Having a full understanding of these sounds is key to mastering the language.

At Chi Chi's English, we use Fly Phonics, a structured and widely recognized phonics system taught in schools across Korea. This method enables learners to quickly and accurately recognize all 44 sounds, forming the foundation for reading and spelling unfamiliar words with confidence. With Fly Phonics, I also provide supplementary materials to assist my learners with pronunciation, reading comprehension, and spelling practice, ensuring they build a strong foundation in English.

At Chi Chi's English, we utilize Get Smart by MM Publications (UK) as our primary course book.

This textbook aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and covers levels ranging from phonics (Pre-A) to advanced English (B2, native speaker level). Cambridge Examinations

Through the prestigious Cambridge Examinations, students gain mastery of integrated English, going beyond the basics typically offered at standard language academies.

Once students reach an appropriate proficiency level, they can take the Cambridge Young Learners exam, which serves as a certification, similar to an IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
