Hello,
Nice to meet you, I'm Chiatung Chen.

I am from South Africa and graduated from the University of Cape Town (global top #173) in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English, Psychology and Chinese. I have a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Senior phase and FET teaching (PGCE). I received my TEFL certificate to teach English as a foreign language. I am also a qualified and registered teacher in South Africa with a SACE certificate.

 

I came to South Korea thinking that I would only stay for 2 years, but after being exposed to the life here- I instantly fell in love and ended up teaching for 4 years. Teaching in Busan, at two middle schools has made me want to make a bigger impact on students' learning. 

Hence, the establishment of "Chi Chi's English" study room.

After experiencing teaching at schools, I decided that I wanted to open a small study room myself. The reason behind it is that I want to target the weakness of many students that I have encountered- English  speaking. Speaking is so important in a language that is often neglected. There are classes dedicated to speaking at schools, but it only happens once a week and with a full class of students. There is not enough time or practice to improve one's speaking ability.

 

I hope to use my skills and knowledge to improve the overall learning of English as a language to students.
